Family Tradition

Founder Hubert “Bert” Aucoin

Founder Hubert “Bert” Aucoin’s deep commitment to extraordinary customer service helped define the core philosophy and ultimate success of today’s Aucoin Hart. His charismatic personality and generous spirit continues to inspire the Aucoin’s passion and enthusiasm. An entrepreneur by nature and a watchmaker by trade, Bert and his wife, Hazel, bought the company he was working for (Hart Jewelers est. 1927) and renamed it Aucoin Hart. His incredible foresight in moving the downtown store to its present day Metairie Road location would lay the groundwork for a company whose reach would ultimately extend well beyond New Orleans.

Bert’s sons, Michael and Tommy Sr., are continuing the family tradition started by their late father by regularly exceeding their customer’s expectations. Tommy Sr. and his wife Donna have had a particularly strong impact on the growth of the company. Tommy’s incredible work ethic, leadership, vision, and creativity transformed Old Metairie’s favorite local store into one the nation’s most dynamic jewelers.

Today the third generation has entered the business. Tommy’s sons, Tommy Jr. and Ryan, play vital roles in the company and work closely with their father in developing future strategies and plans for the company. Their level of involvement in the daily operations of the company is unprecedented for a company of its size. For instance, every diamond selected for the store has been personally inspected by Tommy Sr. or his sons. The two brothers inspect the diamonds with jeweler’s loupes designed by their parents and hand engraved with the inscription, “Your Grandfather’s and our Dream is alive in You.” This sentiment preserves the integrity of their late grandfather’s service and dedication for generations to come.
