INSIDE TUDOR

THE BRAND IS BORN

The trademark "The TUDOR" was filed in February 1926 by the watchmaker and retailer "Veuve de Philippe Hüther." Hans Wilsdorf, the man who founded Rolex, had the company created in Geneva. The firm ceded the brand to Wilsdorf a decade later, in 1936. Hans Wilsdorf saw that after the Second World War it was necessary to give the company a distinctive character. Wilsdorf founded "Montres TUDOR S.A." on March 6, 1946, specialized in models for both men and women. Technical, esthetic, and practical qualities, as well as distribution and after-sales support, would all be guaranteed by Rolex.

TUDOR History

“For some years now, I have been considering the idea of making a watch that our agents could sell at a more modest price than our Rolex watches, and yet one that would attain the standard of dependability for which Rolex is famous. I decided to form a separate company, with the object of making and marketing this new watch. It is called the TUDOR watch company.”

- H. Wilsdorf

THE FINESSE OF HAND CRAFTSMANSHIP

Each TUDOR watch has a galaxy of microprecision. One cannot ignore the delicate balance between technical innovation and design strength. The parts of a TUDOR watch have been rigorously examined to the minute details to guarantee nothing less than flawless excellence. Examine the motion. There is no compromise; perfection. The unmistakable appearance, superior functionality, and unflappable sturdiness of the TUDOR watch let it stand out from the competition. This extremely precise mechanism is made to last. Each watch is a one-of-a-kind work of art because to the superior materials, strength, and classic design.

DAVID BECKHAM

David Beckham is an endurance prodigy. In his watches, he searches for the same superior durability. That is why he choose to wear the COSC-certified Black Bay Chrono, a chronograph built with a column-wheel manufacturing caliber. This clock is inspired by TUDOR's history in racing and scuba diving. Another of his favorites is the Black Bay Bronze. A 43-mm divers' watch, it is inspired by the illustrious past of the company. It is equipped with the MT5601 TUDOR Manufacture Caliber.

JAY CHOU

Look no farther than Jay Cho's artistry to see examples of his audacious and inventive nature. This fearless attitude served as the inspiration for the recently released short film TUDOR, in which Chou deftly pilots a sports car on a storied oval racetrack in Montlhéry, France. Watch in astonishment as he rushes through time; this amazing scene was inspired by films by Jay Chou and vintage time-travel tales from the 1980s. The movie illustrates the concept that timeless visuals have a lasting influence on contemporary art forms such as music and watchmaking. It will include a reference to one of Chou's earlier movies in which he portrayed a car aficionado, noticeable to admirers of his work.
